We hate spam.

Spam is a persistent problem that hinders our daily on line lives. And it's most common in those places we like it the least. In example in our mailboxes or on our weblogs. But we can fight back... and win.

Mollom is a next generation anti-spam service that blocks commentspam from websites. It's founded by Dries Buytaert, the inventor of Drupal, and Benjamin Schrauwen.

WP Mollom is a plugin that brings the power of Mollom to Wordpress.

How does it work?

Every comment that's posted on your Wordpress powered blog is sent off to the Mollom servers. Intricate processes handle the comment. If Mollom think it's ham, the comment will be accepted. If it's spam, the comment will be dropped into oblivion.

Of course, sometimes Mollom isn't sure about the comment. Instead of directing it to a moderation queue making the site administrator manually moderate the comment, it will present the commenter with a simple CAPTCHA test. If the test is completed succesfully, Mollom will know the comment isn't spam and let it be published on your blog.

The idea is that you don't have to do anything but blog and have fun. Well, except installation and minimal configuration that is.
